I find the act of making an appointment very difficult at this surgery, from the waiting time on the phone, being told on so many occasions that "all the pre bookable appointments are taken" and the "call on the day" to be very obstructive. I feel I have to extract the information by presenting different options as opposed to being offered other dates. Once I have managed to get an appointment and I'm sitting in the waiting room ( i normally want an early am appointment as I work). I arrive with plenty of time to spare for the first or second appointment of the day where I sit for at least 10 minutes past my appointment time. 10 minutes being the shortest time I have had to wait. I understand that people do go over their allotted time, but this is the 1st/2nd appointment of the day and I watch the doctors walk from behind the counter to their rooms so that excuse is invalid. I have also now been told by 2 doctors at this surgery 2 totally opposite diagnosis' with 1 month. I do find this very frustrating as I have to keep making new appointments and go through the pain above. With all the above having been said I do find Dr Barber to be friendly, helpful, approachable and he does explain things better than most.

From reading the other reviews on here its like I go to another doctors ? I have had great care from all who work in my experience all very The receptionists are not doctors just there to book you in & give general advice ! I've never ever had a blood sample go missing ? And hands up to the blood lady !!! She is awesome! keep up the good work

Unfortunately I am continuously let down by this surgery and feel it does not give good customer service. I rang to make an appointment the other day and I had to call 100 times exactly until I got through, because of the ridiculous amount of times I have to call I actually went up to the surgery one morning instead as I thought this would be easier. I was completely shocked to find that the receptionists had put the phones on hold and they sat there chatting. This is completely unacceptable, as patients we may have an emergency and need to get an appointment urgently. For the receptionists to ignore the calls coming in and sit there talking is disgusting. When I have spoken to receptionists on the phone they have also been rude. I rang to ask for advice about getting my previous vaccination records for University and the doctor to sign them. The lady on the phone said I would need to see the nurse, she then changed her mind and said actually just bring in the forms from the University and we will do them whenever we get the chance. I then spoke to my University to find out when they needed them by and I was then advised not to worry about getting the doctors signature. I rang the surgery back a couple of hours later saying I had spoken to someone earlier and then tried to go on to explain my current situation. The receptionist did not even let me speak and instead said 'Well you didn't speak to me earlier so hold on.' She then put me on hold for 5 minutes and came back saying 'The lady you spoke to earlier told you that you need to bring in the forms.' I then replied saying that Yes I knew that but my situation has now changed and there wasn't a form to bring in I just needed the results. She then told me that I needed to bring a letter in of why I wanted the results. This receptionist was very rude, did not let me speak and did not listen to me. I was very fustrated after this conversation. Later on that afternoon as I was asked I typed up a letter stating why I needed the results and what for. I was waiting at reception to be greeted and again the receptionists took no notice of me. A nurse walked by and asked me if I was okay or waiting to be checked in. I told her my situation and straight away she asked for my name and she dealt with it then and there. I walked out with what I needed within minutes. The nurse was very kind, friendly and polite and gave me the service that I expect. Overall the receptionists made this simple task very complicated and stressful for no reason at all. It seems they didn't listen to me at all and if they did then it would all have gone much more smoothly and quickly. I also feel that when seeing the doctor all they care about is rushing me out the door. I don't feel they pay much attention to what I am saying and thye just want to get me in and out at the quickest pace. I feel this is unprofessional and important concerns could be missed. I myself work for the NHS in peadiatric clinics across Essex and I know the way that I am regularly treated by the receptionists is not acceptable and is unprofessional.

I believe the waiting area could be improved.

I use the online booking system unless it is an emergency. If you have time to wait for and plan an appointment then there are no issues even though it can be 10 days before an appointment with the doctor you are seeing is available. At times the number of doctors available seems to be very slim.
